Functional summary

From television graphics in the early 70's I went into into pioneering development of computer graphics systems in the 80's, and into computer animation services in the 90's.

1976 - 1979                 KQED-TV Inc.                    San Francisco CA

Graphics Director

·     Led a staff to create all on-air graphics for Hugh Downs' daily, magazine-format Over Easy program, the largest television series ever produced in the San Francisco Bay Area (before or since). Wrote and produced animated historical segments. Milestone: created the first computer animation in history to be shown on a national TV program.

1977              NASA-Ames Research Center          Moffett Field CA

Animator / Art Director (on temporary leave from KQED)

·     Designed and produced computer animation for world-wide television broadcast during NASA's Pioneer Venus Encounter. I used Dick Shoup's Superpaint, the first computer paint system, developed at Xerox PARC. Milestone: this was the first computer animation in history shown on national TV news (CBS, NBC, ABC).

 

1980 - 1990                Aurora Systems Inc.            San Francisco CA

Co-founder / VP Marketing

·     Founded pioneering computer graphics company with Dr. Richard Shoup and helped build it into industry leader. Led development of artist functionality and graphical user interface for Aurora's flagship graphics / animation system and helped drive sales to TV broadcast clients around the world, including CNN, the Weather Channel and Le Societe Francaise Production (French National Television) and hundreds of others.

 

1990 - Present            Prism Arts Group, Inc.             Santa Rosa CA

President / Owner

·        Owner and operator of computer animation service company serving clients in Sonoma County and the Bay Area, including Chevron, PG&E, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Bechtel, Optical Coating Labs, Agilent Technologies, and KFTY-TV .
